Thanks Mark! I also appreciate you point out two other blog posts on this issue I also thought were great:
http://icantthinkofablogname.blogspot.com/2009/07...
and
http://www.yearnforgod.org/2009/06/why-i-am-not-p...

Too bad there isn't a document like the GCR pastors can sign pledging not to preach a "God and country" sermon ever again.

So you don't like Boyd and Shane so much on the two kingdom issues? :-P

Wes,

I too have a problem with patriotism in the church, especially, during worship service. I made a recent note about such issues, but I expanded more this past Memorial Day.

I didn't like those proposed SBC resolutions either. I also could have done without Huckabee and his political presentation. And without Colson too. If we are going to object to the politicization of the church then we should also hold folks like Colson to a more biblical standard. Colson spoke at the SBC and, unless something has recently changed, his wife doesn't even attend the same church. Actually, she's a practicing Roman Catholic. We don't need to promote leaders like this.

I would prefer to read Kim Riddlebarger and Mike Horton on the two kingdom's issues. :)
